      Level: beginners

      Marilia Cervi
Dancer, teacher and choreographer of ballroom dancing, has the forró as main dance. During more then nine years of study, she could develop an irreverent and charming way of dance and teach forró. She won the Campeonato Brasileiro de Forró, awards in many national and international festivals, traveled to several countries, has been in several TV shows, dance congresses all over Brazil and her last conquer was the best teacher of Forró of Brazil in 2015 and 2016 (by Baila Mundo). Her research in Brazilian folk dances and ballroom dance has led her to develop a multicultural forró without prejudice, because, in her opinion, Forró is one of the dances that most allows to express the individuality and creativity of each one and also the movement, essence and charm of women, so she is investing in the development of the follower's skills. Now she is living in Lyon and is helping to develop the forró scene with the association "Forró em Lyon" as a teacher, partner and member.

      But, what is Forró?
Forró is a couple dance and also a genre of music that originated in Northeastern Brazil. Originally played with an acordeon, a zabumba and a triangle.
Its also the most popular genre of music and dance around Brazil, with different styles and "accents". Forró has its traditions but is also a very alive dance that accepts new moves and possibilities, that can be very simple but also complex, allows a lot of creativity and fun time. Something special about forró, that is also making it spread around the world is the joyful and pleasant enviroment. Its worth to try!
